Which console(s) do you own ?
Gamecube, PS2, GBA, Nes (and 5 or 6 others which have been resold).
What are your favorite GameCube games and why ? Are they among your all-time favorite video games ?
Eternal Darkness, for so many reasons, but I'm not going to tell them one by one. Despite a few drawbacks, it simply is a cult game which is certainly among the titles that I will never forget. There is also Metroid Prime, for refreshing the series a lot and still keeping its style. Mario Kart Double Dash too, which, except the battle mode, is definitely the best achievement of all. And Pikmin 2, which develops very well the initial ideas and brings new ones.
These games are definitely well placed among all the games I have tested. Maybe not as memorable on the long run as some older titles, but hardly so I'd say.
The mass question: what's the color of your Cube ? how many games and controllers do you own for it ? do you have a Game Boy Advance, a Nintendo DS ? do you play online or in LAN ?
I have a black GameCube with 3 controllers and 10 games (40 owned as a whole) as well as a Game Boy Advance. I never play online or in LAN.
Which characteristic (graphics, sound, gameplay...) of a game do you value the most ?
Graphics are certainly not to be overlooked but it's never what I keep in mind about a game in the end. The most important by far is its gameplay (rich, intuitive and innovating if possible) along with the general atmosphere coming from the software.
Anything you regret about the GameCube ?
The enduring contempt from a well too large part of players and the little involvement of third party editors. The worst, being to see all those games which are naturally announced for Xbox and PS2 like if the GameCube did not exist.
What sort of game would you like to see on GameCube ?
Generally, nothing in particular for my part; the genres which are however not enough seen on this console: RPG, racing simulation...
Any gaming exploits ? Anything you achieved in a video game that you are particularly proud of ?
To have entirely completed Eternal Darkness (to finish the game 3 times) is a matter of pride, not for its difficulty but for what it means. Nothing special otherwise, I was rather good at Tetris, lol.
What would you say to convince people to buy a GameCube ?
Just one thing, go to read my entire speech here (^_^) [note: it's in French]
Is there a not so well known GC title that you'd like to bring attention to ?
It depends on the degree of "fame". I can't resist, I would say Eternal Darkness, unfairly ignored when released. In the same kind, there's also the really great Beyond Good & Evil.
Would you like to say something to all the game makers at Nintendo Japan ? (they might read you !)
Continue, again and always, to imagine completely new concepts, to reinvent the basis of this art and please, strongly insist to the right persons so that the whole planet can enjoy it. ^_^
Thank you for answering Samurai Nintendo's questions !
